The suggestion that QPR’s recent history has been even mildly epic is as ridiculous as putting the name ‘Zesh Rehman’ and words ‘competent central defender’ in the same sentence.
Epic? No. Nowhere near. But that’s exactly what Amazon is sticking with to explain the contents of Mick Kelly’s Hooped Dreams. To be precise they have called the book an ‘epic story of QPR’s recent transformation’.
It’s the biggest surprise since JR Ewing got shot, but it’s no dream – Blackpool are a Premier League side. Who would have guessed the fairytale ending that culminated in the Tangerines thrilling 3-2 victory over Cardiff in the Championship Play-of final?
Rangers will aim to end their rollercoaster campaign with victory over champions Newcastle United on Sunday, but what will the expectation levels be for Neil Warnock and his team heading into the 2010-11 season?
Gianni Paladini gave a radio interview to JNET Radio tonight in which he was heralded as a ‘hero’ by one excitable Rangers fan who called the show. For the most part the questions were kind to Paladini, with a protective presenter willing to step in and divert the conversation from being controversial in any shape or form. So, what did we learn from the Italian tonight? Well in no particular order here is what Paladini said…
It’s all change at QPR, but what does it all mean? Flavio Briatore has decided to step down as Chairman of QPR Holdings Limited with immediate effect and the relatively unknown Ishan Saksena has stepped into the Italian’s shoes. Meanwhile the Mittal Family have increased their shareholding in the club…
I’m struggling to even write this sentence. I have attempted to start this post a good 4 or 5 times and each time have deleted the sentence and attempted to start again. The reason for this act of indecisiveness is that I am absolutely furious at learning the news that Wayne Routledge has been sold to Newcastle Utd for an undisclosed fee.
I am almost at the stage where I don’t have the energy to convey the annoyance of this latest exasperating decision from the powers be at QPR. What other, presumably financially sound, football club would sell their best player mid-way through a promotion campaign?
The last couple of weeks have been pretty hard on QPR fans. We’ve seen a decent promotion campaign come apart at the seams and yet another new average manager being appointed at Loftus Road.
For one fan it was all too much and his recent outburst on a football forum has spread like wildfire across the internet….
See what I done there? I made a pun on the name of our outgoing manager as reference to the actual word ‘heart’. Oh forget it…
Lame jokes aside there isn’t much to smile about at Loftus Road these days. I am of course, not implying that you laughed at that headline, but like me are not amused by the latest shenanigans going on at QPR.
So, Paul Hart has departed and although his original appointment was one that filled me with great dread I can’t say I’m particularly happy or sad of his exit. More bewildered.
So, our perma-tanned owned, Flavio Briatore, has had his Forumla 1 ban overturned in the French courts this week, but as the title suggests he’s not out of the proverbial just yet and hasn’t actually been exonerated of any wrongdoing in regards to the infamous Nelson Piquet F1 crash.
Oh no, what he has been cleared of is the unlawful decision that the FIA made in throwing a lifetime ban to the Italian for the incident, without going through the correct protocol.
What does this mean for Flavio and QPR? Well in the short term not a lot. The FIA have appealed against Briatore’s victory and he still isn’t actually allowed to be involved in Formula 1 until another long drawn out decision is reached.
Not for the first time and it certainly won’t be the last QPR have found themselves making the headlines for all the wrong reasons this week with news emerging that manager Jim Magilton head butted Akos Buzacky in the wake of Rangers pitiful 3-1 defeat at Watford on Monday.
Although there is some debate as to whether Magilton actually head butted Buzacky it now appears inconceivable that Madge will be back at Loftus Road. The club have firmly backed Buzacky over the dressing room incident, releasing a statement from the player on the official site to confirm that he hasn’t handed a transfer request.
