Just when we were thinking it’s safe to sigh a collective breath of relief, QPR get walloped 4-0 at Leicester and every other result seems to go against us at the bottom of the Championship to leave us 3pts clear of the relegation zone….

Coventry deepened QPR’s relegation fears with a 1-0 victory at the Ricoh Arena this afternoon. The defeat, Rangers fifth on the trot, leaves the West Londoners in a perilous position in the Championship just 2pts above the relegation zone.

When I started this blog there was so much optimism around the club. We were playing exciting expansive football and giving several teams a long overdue hiding. It was, as some might say, unbelievable. And perhaps too unbelievable, once our expectations and hopes had been cruelly raised, to ever realistically last the season.

Cole’s close control and pass early in the second half caught out the Rangers back line and urged Salomon Kalou to gallop forward on goal. There was still plenty of work to be done but the Ivorian’s composure and finish matched the slick build-up. For Cole, who was pressed through the whole 90 minutes, and his team, this was an eighth consecutive victory of the season. Carlo Ancelotti, the coach, knows only the grinding satisfaction of result after result.
